My Kind Of Michael
By Nick Cassenbaum and Danny Braverman
Ever since he was a kid, Nick has loved Michael Barrymore. In this heartfelt tribute, Nick invites you to experience the turbulent love affair between entertainer and audience. Nick uses his critically-acclaimed storytelling style, made popular from international hit show Bubble Schmeisis (“generous and poignant” ★★★★ The Stage), and Barrymore’s iconic shticks, to weave his own story alongside Barrymore’s dramatic rise and fall. With live music and gags aplenty, it promises to be ‘Alwight!’
Created with Danny Braverman (Wot? No Fish!!!), supported by Bread & Circuses Arts, Arts Council England, Battersea Arts Centre and developed at and supported by The Yard Theatre.
★★★★ The Guardian
'It is a hopeful, funny and palpably affectionate show. With the help of his pop-eyed pianist, Andy Kelly, Cassenbaum rattles through Barrymore’s greatest hits and barmiest impressions. Buoyed by Cassenbaum’s natural charisma and enthusiasm, the audience cheer wildly and, with amazingly little cynicism, join in with Cassenbaum’s on-stage clowning...Just for a moment, we’re young again.'
"Consistently funny” ★★★★ ThreeWeeks
“Irresistibile” ★★★★ The Reviews Hub
